LOL ME is a critical homage to our hyper-connected, yet increasingly disconnected world. Inspired by the book Call Me, this piece reimagines the traditional book cover as a visual commentary on how we communicate today or fail to.
At its center stands a striking female figure, clutching a classic red telephone. The cord coils around her, nearly strangling her, before trailing off into the mouth of a goat, an absurd yet symbolic figure placed at the bottom left. The goat, holding the other end of the phone, becomes a strange, silent listener, reflecting how our conversations have become echoes in the digital void.
Behind her, the familiar circular dial of a vintage phone has been transformed. Instead of numbers, icons of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube form the backdrop, reminding us of the spaces where we now “connect.”
She stands tall on a phonebook, elevated by the illusion of status and control that social media grants. In this space, anyone can be anyone, no questions asked. Yet her human body is crowned with the head of a parrot, a creature known for mimicry, not meaning. A subtle but powerful metaphor for how often we repeat, repost, and perform rather than truly express.
Hidden within the composition are the quiet words: unsocial social - a whisper of truth in the noise.
LOL ME invites viewers to reflect on the paradox of modern communication: always online, rarely present.

A painting celebrating the deep connection between Austrian and Japanese cultures. The central figure, a self-portrait, walking towards the viewer, is physically set on a deeper level, creating a 3D-effect. To his left, the flowing movement of koi fish and delicate cherry blossoms symbolize Japan’s rich traditions, while mirrored white doves and pinecones on the right representing Austria. The background is created by the iconic red circle of the Japanese flag, reinforcing the theme of unity. This vibrant composition radiates harmony and invites the viewer into a state of relaxation, emphasizing the beauty of cultural connection.

In Born Naked, an extremely colorful acrylic on canvas work highlighted with delicate gold foil accents, an androgynous figure kneels, stretching upward within a dreamlike, abstract space. This powerful composition evokes a sense of liberation, both personal and universal. The gold foil elements, scattered like celebratory confetti, surrounding the person, contribute to the atmosphere of joyous release, reflecting the artwork’s association with the 2025 Tuntenball in Graz, a renowned event celebrating diversity and self-expression, which uses this specific artwork as the main theme for the event.
The central figure, adorned in rainbow-painted high heels, experiences a moment of transformation. Five hands, appearing out of nowhere, tear away the individual’s clothing, revealing the words Born Naked boldly inscribed on the character's chest. This phrase underscores a fundamental truth: we all enter the world free of judgments, biases, and preconceived identities. The vibrant magenta wig, inscribed with the hidden phrase Free Yourself, further reinforces the message. It calls on viewers to shed societal expectations and embrace their authentic selves, while also encouraging acceptance of others’ expressions.
One particularly striking element is the figure’s eyes, which emit dual beams of light into the sky. This imagery suggests a hopeful vision—one where the present is illuminated and the future holds infinite potential for freedom and joy. The light serves as a metaphor for both clarity and empowerment, urging viewers to look forward with confidence.
Born Naked is not only a celebration of individuality but also a powerful reminder of the beauty found in liberation from prejudice. It resonates deeply with the spirit of the Tuntenball, where embracing one’s true self and accepting others is the ultimate act of celebration. Through its dynamic visuals and meaningful symbolism, the artwork captures the essence of a world where we are free to be exactly as we are.

This acrylic painting reimagines an old novel cover, presenting a woman undergoing a chilling transformation into a werewolf lady. Her piercing gaze reaches into the distance as she stands in front of an eerie, Alfred Hitchcock-style mansion partly engulfed by leafless, ancient trees. This spooky setting is juxtaposed with the bright neon colors that dominate the painting, giving it a modern and vibrant twist.
The artwork serves as a contemporary interpretation of classic book covers, exploring the primal instincts within humans. The werewolf transformation symbolizes the animalistic side of our nature, while the haunting mansion represents the depths of our human subconscious. This painting invites viewers to contemplate the mysteries that lie within ourselves and the hidden corners of our minds.
The artwork was first presented at the Art Austria art show, 04/2024, at the Museums Quartier Vienna.

This work accompanied the artist throughout a year of creation. In the ethereal twilight of a wintry landscape, the transformation of a werewolf lady unfolds amidst a cinematic tableau of nature's grandeur. Set against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, flanked by two trios of majestic palm trees, the scene exudes a mesmerizing blend of beauty and danger.
The protagonist, a werewolf lady, stands at the center of the composition, her human form beginning to give way to the primal forces surging within. Her features are a mix of agony and exhilaration as the metamorphosis takes hold, her body contorting with the strain of her dual nature. Yet, there's a sense of grace in her struggle, a testament to the raw power and innate beauty of her species.
The collaged background, consisting of a movie magazine of the early 1970’s adds depth and texture to the artwork, with layers of torn paper evoking the complexity of the werewolf lady's inner turmoil. Amidst the swirling chaos, the tranquil presence of snow-topped mountains and stately palm trees serves as a stark contrast to the turmoil unfolding in the foreground.
The color palette is dominated by shades of blue and red, casting an otherworldly glow over the scene. The cool blues of the winter landscape mingle with the fiery reds of the werewolf lady's transformation, creating a visual symphony that captivates the viewer's imagination.
Hovering above the werewolf lady are two small angels, their serene countenances a striking juxtaposition to the turmoil below. One angel gazes away with a look of compassion, while the other hovers beneath, offering silent support. Their presence hints at the eternal struggle between light and darkness, good and evil, that lies at the heart of the werewolf lady's journey.
In this film-like environment, the viewer is transported to a realm where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur. The artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of nature and the untamed beauty that resides within us all.

This painting, first presented at the Nova Rock Festival 2024, is a unique collaboration between Mina Caputo, musician and painter from the band Life of Agony, and renowned painter Tom Lohner.
The painting reflects the fusion of their distinct creative processes. Caputo, driven by spontaneity, channels her raw emotions directly onto the canvas, capturing the essence of her feelings in real time. In contrast, Lohner employs a methodical approach, meticulously planning the composition of his paintings before beginning the actual work.
The central theme of the piece is the lasting legacy, inspired by icons like Andy Warhol and David Bowie. The vibrant colors and dynamic forms symbolize how the influences of Warhol and Bowie transcend their lifetimes, continuing to inspire people today.
This painting represents the start of an exciting journey for Caputo and Lohner, aiming to learn from each other and merge their artistic expressions into a harmonious unity. It celebrates their diverse approaches to creativity and invites the viewer to dive into the deep and multifaceted worlds of both artists.

The final piece in the 12-part series H’Animalism. While animals are guided purely by instinct, this series invites viewers to reflect on a deeper question:
How far removed are we, really, from the animal within?
Rather than drawing a dividing line, Tom Lohner explores the blurred boundaries between human emotion and primal instinct. Through powerful imagery, H’Animalism opens a discourse on dominance, vulnerability, and the illusion of human superiority.

Sharing Gas is part of the series Arcadia. This is the prototype artwork #1 of that theme and conveys the moment of daydreaming; in this particular scene, one observes a woman filling up her car with gas. While doing so, her mind wanders off and transforms this scene into a “love story”. She re-invents this in reality rather boring late-night moment into a moment of love at first sight. But it is not only her “dreamman” she finds waiting on the other side of the gas station filling up his muscle car with gas, with this feeling also her car swaps its appearance and loses gravity as she does as well.
