Two Men on Tractor

Sold

< 60 × 70 cm / acrylic on canvas >

2026/04

In this composition, Tom deconstructs the classical concept of homeland, redefining it as a sense of belonging that extends far beyond mere geographical boundaries. Set against the rolling hills on the outskirts of Graz, the work captures the dynamic energy of a region in transition. It serves as a humorous yet profound manifesto on the adaptation of tradition in the 21st century.

The centrally positioned tractor acts as a technological bridge between generations. Staged as a masterpiece of detail, this vehicle is far more than a piece of agricultural machinery, it is a vessel for symbolism. Most striking is the paradox of leisure: the most eye-catching element is a wicker basket overflowing with golf balls, flanked by polished golf clubs. This visual irony characterizes the contemporary "farmer" of the Graz region, who moves as naturally across the fairway as he does across the field.

The work is a living testament to the fact that homeland is not a static concept, but something we actively shape and reinvent every single day.
