Muse - Your Wish Will Come True is about the invisible force that can inspire a person wherever they are. A muse can be a person, a memory, a place, or simply a thought that suddenly opens the door to a new idea.
At the centre of the artwork sits the Muse. She represents that first spark of inspiration - the moment when something begins to grow inside the mind. The beams of light coming from her symbolize this energy spreading into the imagination. Around her, fantasy takes over. Bushes slowly dissolve into clouds, and the imagination becomes so powerful that almost anything can appear within it.
The small buildings hidden within the landscape are inspired by Bad Gastein, a place that remains very special to the artist. He had an exhibition there with his brother in 2012, and the experience stayed with him. Like a muse, a place can leave something behind that continues to inspire many years later.
The artwork is painted on two wooden panels joined together. The two panels represent two different worlds coming together through one idea - reality and imagination, the past and the present, the known and the unknown.
Fantasy can also change the way we see the world. A cloud can become a mountain, a bush can become a strange creature, or a dream can turn into a completely new reality. The zeppelin on the left, marked with the word Discovery, reflects this idea. It is inspired by the spaceship Discovery, but also represents the journey of discovering the deepest parts of the imagination and of oneself, and mirrors the bush in the top right corner.
The figure itself carries elements of traditional Styrian and Austrian culture. This is something the artist only began to appreciate more deeply after leaving Austria and living in the USA in 1999. Being away from home made him see his own roots in a different way - and those memories became another kind of muse.
Ultimately, Muse - Your Wish Will Come True is about letting go, following the imagination, and finding the person that already exists within. When an idea is allowed to grow freely, it can become something powerful. And when that inner inspiration is brought into the world, it can inspire someone else.
Sometimes all it takes is one thought, one dream, or one spark - and the impossible can begin to feel possible.
